UNTAPPED POTENTIAL
Exploring Neuroinclusive Employment in Berwickshire

A creative approach to our social impact work

We approach our social impact work of closing the disability employment gap in many different ways, our Untapped Potential art project is one of these. The project uses the medium of art to explore neurodivergent people's experiences of employment and our vision for a neuroinclusive future.
Using art to showcase lived experience

The first part of the Untapped Potential project pairs neurodivergent individuals with professional artists. Together they produce artworks representing the skills they feel are being missed out on by employers, due to their (mis)perceptions of neurodivergence and disability.

The second part of the project facilitates a workshop open to all neurodivergent people in Berwickshire, to openly discuss and contribute to a collective vision for what neuroinclusive employment could look like within our Berwickshire community. This vision is then illustrated as a roadmap to showcase alongside the other artworks.

Where can you see the exhibition?

The exhibition has already toured around many different venues across Berwickshire, the Scottish Borders and wider UK. We collaborate with local organisations and events for 'pop up exhibitions' to continue to highlight the insights created through the exhibition. If you wish to host the exhibition in your venue or at an event get in touch with our team.
It is hoped that by engaging with employers and the wider community this exhibition will continue to initiate conversations around the disability employment gap. It provides an opportunity to increase understanding and acceptance through the lens of neurodivergent lived experience whilst also signposting both employers and individuals to opportunities for employment-related support.
